This guidance was launched by the Partnership in September 2004 and is aimed at developers, development control officers and planners. It is a practical tool which, now it has been adopted by local authorities across the county, should raise the standards of new development by not only encouraging companies and planners to protect what is already there, but also look for ways of enhancing biodiversity on the site.
Amongst other things the guidance contains:
- biodiversity principles
- case studies showing how to apply these biodiversity principles to new developments
- information about what to expect from an ecological survey
